Trees for Teens
Posted 16th December 2020
Many care experienced young people have struggled throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, some have lost their jobs or are struggling to make ends meet and some don’t have any family members around them to support them through this difficult time. To support care leavers this Christmas, Warwickshire County Council’s House Project launched a campaign asking the community to donate Christmas trees and decorations so that young people could decorate their homes and enjoy the festivities as much as possible this year.
We have had so many incredible donations from people across our communities who have donated over 50 Christmas trees so far and lots of lights and decorations. We have already given out 42 of these trees – making a massive difference to someone living alone or someone simply struggling to get into the Christmas spirit that we all need this year! We put children and young people at the heart of everything we do and Warwickshire’s House Project aims to support this by helping young people leaving care to create their own home and live independently. We would just like to thank everyone who donated to the campaign so that our care leavers can make their house a home and have the best possible Christmas!
